The minimum qualification for application for membership in the Bangladesh Psychological Association is the B.A./B.Sc. Honors degree in psychology. Any honors graduate in psychology can apply for membership. The Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Psychological Association after scrutinizing the candidate's qualifications can admit him/her as a member. There are 1,000 members of the Association.

The Bangladesh Psychological Association's constitution states the following objectives of the organization:

  • To find out ways and means for developing psychology as a science and as a profession;
  • To determine the standard of education and training for psychologists in Bangladesh and fix professional code of conduct for psychologists employed in different sectors;
  • To adopt appropriate work programs for materializing the national ideals and for solving problems of individuals and the society by applying the principles of psychology;
  • To hold seminars, conferences and exhibitions from time to time;
  • To provide expert advice on relevant issues of national importance to the government and other agencies and organizations;
  • To carry out the activities of the organization skillfully and for this purpose to obtain support and help from the government, public agencies and other organizations;
  • To publish research papers and educational materials;
  • To create public awareness about the usefulness of psychology in different areas of lives and to co-ordinate with the government and other agencies to utilize the services of trained psychologists;
  • To co-operate with the psychological associations in other countries and international bodies and agencies for the advancement of psychology as a science.
