The Colombian Society of Psychology was founded to promote psychology as a science and as a profession in Colombia. The Colombian Society of Psychology organizes congresses every two years, symposia, and other activities. The most recent was the XIIth. Colombian Congress of Psychology (Medellin, 2006). The Society publishes a newsletter twice a year, books, scientific monographs, and the like.

The total membership in the Colombian Society of Psychology, and the Foundation for the Advancement of Psychology is 900. Members are people with the title of "Psychologist" obtained in Colombia or abroad.
