Membership in the Suomen Psykologinen Seura (1,503 members) is open to all persons accepting its aims.

The aims of the Suomen Psykologinen Seura, which is a scientific organization, are "to promote psychological research and publication activities, to further practical psychological work, and to serve as a link between representatives of theoretical and practical psychology." The Suomen Psykologinen Seura has divisions of social psychology, cognitive science, history of psychology, health psychology, and developmental psychology. The Suomen Psykologinen Seura organizes biannually, with the Finnish Psychological Association, a national congress and irregularly other research seminars. The Suomen Psykologinen Seura publishes two scientific journals, one in Finnish and one mainly in English.
