[From the web] The New Zealand Psychological Society is the professional and scientific association for psychologists in Aotearoa/New Zealand and is committed to supporting quality practice, education and research in psychology.
Qualifications for membership in the New Zealand Psychological Society (750 full members, 150 student members) are a doctorate or postgraduate degree in psychology, or in education provided there is a major psychological component plus supervision. The Society's major goals, derived from its eight constitutional objectives, are:
- To consolidate and extend the role of the Society as the effective voice of the psychological profession as a whole;
- To facilitate the role of psychology and psychologists as agents of social betterment;
- To enhance their effectiveness as professional psychologists; and
- To advance the interests of psychology as a science.
The vision of the New Zealand Psychological Society is to be the professional association of all New Zealand Psychologists. The mission of the New Zealand Psychological Society is to advance psychology to its highest standards as a science and as a practice, in order to improve human welfare.
