Members in the Asociación Panameña de Psicólogos (300 members) must be accredited psychologists and must show proof of both certification and university title in psychology. The board of directors of the association approves or refuses candidates on these terms.

The goals of the Asociación Panameña de Psicólogos are to promote the active and creative participation of the psychologist in benefit of the country; to supervise the adherence of members to the ethics and regulations of the profession; to organize continuing education programs so that members can keep a high standard in their professional practice; to establish contact with foreign and national psychologist's associations; and to stimulate interest in the social aspects of the community.
