Membership in the Colegio de Psicologos del Peru (12,000 members) requires a professional degree of psychologist or Licenciatura in Psychology extended or recognized by a Peruvian university that has a faculty or academic program in psychology. The Colegio de Psicologos del Peru is an autonomous institution in accord with Public Law. It represents the professional psychologists of Peru and membership in it is absolutely indispensable for exercising the profession of psychologists in Peru. The Colegio is headed by a national administrative team located in Lima and elected every two years. The Colegio also has 10 regional offices in Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Arequipa, Tacna, Cuzco, Junin, Huanuco, and Iquitos, which cover the entire territory of Peru.

The major aims and goals of the Colegio de Psicologos del Peru are to defend the profession of psychologist; to rule it in consonance with actual legislation, the Colegio's rules, and the professional ethics code; to promote and make known to the public the development of psychological science, and to orient colleagues towards those areas in society which present urgent needs and relevant interests.
