The Afghan Psychological Association of American is a non-profit community mental health organization which is formed with the intention to reach out to the war stricken and traumatized Afghan population and to rebuild the broken spirit of the Afghan people. APAA has been officially recognized by the state of California and the federal government as a community mental health organization. It has been formed by a team of very dedicated mental health and medical professionals.

It is the mission of the Afghan Psychological Association to promote optimal health to all people. The specific aim of this corporation is to provide comprehensive behavioral healthcare services to individuals, couples and families. These services are included but not limited to psychotherapy, prevention and rehabilitation to all individuals representing all cultural backgrounds. APAA will develop research and trauma centers for war stricken Afghans and provide training and education to mental health professional’s workings with this population.
