Overview
Before 1962, psychology was taught as the one discipline in the teacher training colleges. In 1962, psychological studies, including experimental, began. The psychology and physiology aged groups was established in 1961. The institute of psychology was established in 1993. The Vietnam Association of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences was established in 1990. Since 1993, the Vietnam Association of Psychology & Pedagogical Sciences became a member of the IUPsyS.
Research
Psychology in our country encompasses both research and application on middle degree. A dominant focus is on personality and pedagogical sciences.
Training
In Vietnam training in psychology as applied psychology is offered in all teacher-training colleges, universities, and the Central Administrative Academy. There are three departments of psychology that training professional psychologists; two are at Hanoi National University and one is at Ho Chi Minh National University. In the departments of psychology setting the training is four years.
Vietnam does have special government requirements for training professional, applied psychologists. These requirements apply to all psychologists.
Vietnamese psychologists do not have a formal code of ethics.
