Ad Hoc Joint Committee - Composition and Focus

Ad Hoc Joint Committee for the development of a Universal Declaration of Ethical Principles for Psychologists (Chair, Janel Gauthier, Canada), was convened by:

  • International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS)
  • International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP)
  • Iternational Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP).

The Ad Hoc Joint Committee included representatives from all five continents. The Members were (in alphabetical order): Rubén Ardila (Colombia), Lutz Eckensberger (Germany), Janel Gauthier, Chair (Canada), Nasrin Jazani (Iran), Catherine Love (New Zealand), Elizabeth Nair (Singapore), Kwadzi Nyanungo (Zimbabwe), Paul B. Pederson (United States), Tuomo Tikkanen (Finland), and Kan Zhang (China).

The focus of the Ad Hoc Joint Committee was to develop a document that articulates the principles and values underlying a common ethical framework for psychologists throughout the world. The goal is for this document to be used as a justification and guide for the development of standards as appropriate in differing cultural contexts.
