The U.S. National Committee for Psychological Science (USNC/IUPsyS) represents the interests of the U.S. psychological science community in the International Union for Psychological Science (IUPsyS), a scientific union member of the International Council for Science (ICSU).
Acting as a liaison between U.S. scientists and the international psychological community, the USNC/IUPsyS:
- Promotes the advancement of psychological science within the United States and throughout the world.
- Encourages participation of the U.S. scientific community in activities of the International Union for Psychological Science (IUPsyS), which serves to build global interaction among research.
- Fosters international partnerships, cooperative research, and education through the organization and sponsorship of scientific meetings.
- Advises the President of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) on matters pertaining to U.S. participation in the IUPsyS and sends delegations to the General Assemblies of the IUPsyS.
