1881 - First proposal for an international congress

Polish psychologist Julian Ochorowicz sent an article to Théodule Ribot titled "Project of an International Congress of Psychology." While Ribot was skeptical about the prospects for an international congress of psychologists, he published the article in his Revue Philosophique de la France et de l'Etranger. By 1889, Ochorowicz's proposal had come to fruition and the First International Congress of Psychology was held in Paris.
