The first IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence was held at Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Orlando, Florida, USA. Earlier meetings of this organization began in 1987, when the organization was named the IEEE Neural Networks Society The general chair of the meeting was Charles J. Robinson, of Louisiana Tech University.
