The first Interamerican Congress of Psychology began in Ciudad Trujillo (now Santo Domingo), Dominican Republic. The congress was opened by Pedro Troncoso Sanchez, the Secretary of Education for the Dominican Republic. Psychologist Andrés Avelino of the Dominican Republic was elected president.
