A post-master's training institute in clinical psychology was begun at the Institute of Clinical Psychology, Karachi University, in Karachi, Pakistan. This was the nation's first post-master's training institute in clinical psychology and was directed by Farrakh Zahooruddin Ahmad. In 1984, a second such institute was established at the Centre for Clinical Psychology, University of the Punjab in Lahore, directed by Rafia Hasan.
