This study deals with acculturation of Iranian parents, particularly mothers immigrated to Toronto and well being of children in terms of social skills and problem behaviors using the Social Skills Rating System, SSRS (Gresham & Elliott, 1990). An Acculturation Scale developed for this study proved to have sufficient reliability and factorial validity for application in a community of Iranian immigrants in Canada. Fifty Iranian Immigrant mothers living in Toronto participated in this study and rated their 6- to 12-year-old children. The result of this study using regression analysis revealed that Iranian immigrant children do not necessarily behavior problems as a result of living in a bicultural society. On the other hand the social skills in children were related to the level of acculturation of caretaker. |
