The study aimed to determine the attitude of College educated students towards marriage to a relative.
The study used a questionnaire to measure the attitude of College educated students towards marriage to a relative. The questionnaire consisted of 30 parts: 21 positive parts and 9 negative parts. After verifying its validity, it was applied on a randomly chosen sample of students from the faculty of education. The sample reached the number of 848. 375 of them were males and 473 of them were females. After analyzing the results using the arithmetic means and the standard deviation for the different parts of the questionnaire, it appeared that the attitude of College educated students in Adan depends on a number of variables: familial, personal, social, economical, physical, and many of the physical and personal conviction lead the person to marry a relative.
The results confirmed the familial cohesion and the increase of family and relative belonging, and the personal conviction and self-position. The study confirmed also a negative attitude toward marrying a relative for parental satisfaction and personal independence. The results showed differences between males and females attitudes towards marrying a relative. The males seemed to approve marrying a relative more than the females. The study concludes on recommendations and suggestions. |
