The psychological stress is considered the most difficult and complicated psychological phenomenon. The concept of psychological stress includes many difficult and mysterious concepts. This phenomenon has increased with the gap between technology and reality which led many to say that the psychological stress is the result of the scientific and technological progress, and that it became an element of our modern period. This situation increased the curiosity of researchers and specialists in education (in general) and in psychology (in particular), to determine the emergence of life stress, their reasons and the physical and psychological damages that result from them; and therefore to determine the methods that should be used by the individual to cope with them.
Teaching is considered one of the jobs that require the capacity of bearing since it is a humanistic job. Education literature indicates that persons holding these jobs are the most at risk for psychological life stress due to the different work situations and duties that require a lot of effort to accomplish the aimed goals.
The hypotheses was to:
- Determine the level of stress in teaching staff in Yemen universities.
- Determine the differences among the teaching staff in Yemeni universities in the level of psychological, economic and academic stress, according to the universities variables, to the educational level and to the number of children.
The sample reached the number of 55 members of the teaching staff of Yemeni College. 53 were males and 2 of them were females.
The researcher built a scale for psychological stress that was standardized on the members of the teaching staff in Yemeni universities. |
