The conviction of the writer coming from more than 20 years of experience in health Psychology, of the importance and danger of social development in health Psychology, motivated him to choose this subject.
The descriptive method was used in this subject. The presentation covers in general the social development and in particular the parents attitudes toward children and adolescents self-concept. The concept of self which is constructed from the experiences of the individual that he got in his phases of development, is considered as a psychological, motivational builder that represents a reference for the individual in dealing with issues that he encounters in his social environment, and that reflects his adjustment or his non-adjustment.
The presenter will use in his discussion his practical experience and the results found by others researches that used self-concept scale.
Among these researches, the presenter used a Keelany research on children from the Jordanian society, who lost their father in 1980, and the research of Ali Farah on children with unknown father. The presenter's research is on children and adolescents from 3 states of Sudan (1995). These researches used the scale of self-concept made of 8 derivative scales that represent the following features: social value–self-confidence–group orientation–mental capacity–physical health–emotional balance–energy–hostility. This scale proved its efficiency for studying the concept of self. |
