Copy This study aims to investigating the neuropsychological characteristics of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Patients.

The sample consists of (25) IBS Patients (18 female, 7 male) and (30) healthy controls (21 female, 9 male). A battery of Neuropsychological tests was used, in addition to, Beck Depression Inventory and Quality of Life–IBS Questionnaire.

The results indicate that IBS patients were impaired, comparing to non-patients (health control) in concentration, attention, verbal and nonverbal recognition memory, problem solving, planning and making strategies. Also, they have depression, and low level of quality of life. Finally, some suggestions and recommendations were given.
