This research is to find out explanatory factors why battered wives blame themselves, even though they were abused by their husbands and continue to stay in their marriage. A sample of 80 respondents were taken from the various centers in Malaysia. The research uses a uniform questionnaire to seek information profiles of respondents and factors related to self-blame. This study also tries to measure conflict resolution using the Conflict Tactic Scale by Straus. The results were analyzed using the t-test and one-way ANOVA, and utilizing Scheffe post-hoc test if the results are significant. The main finding of this research is that most abused wives blame themselves and continue to stay in their marriage. These wives internalize the blame for the abuse. |
