Arab well-being under war and siege Khawla Abu Baker, Sama Aweidah, Rana Nashashibi, and Mona Fayed Lebanon and Palestine each lived for about 17 years in what local people called "war situation" which influenced their wellbeing. The war in each society affected each member of the family in a unique way, obvious or concealed. The status of men changed in each society, which influenced the psychological and social order of all members in the family. Also, the role of parents varied during the war in each society. The work of mental health therapists took a unique turn during the war in a culture that was not accustomed to use the services of professional mental health workers. In this roundtable, four female Arab researchers, therapists and directors of institutions from the field will share their experiences working with families, groups, women, education systems, victims and other systems. |
