Terrorism: The four types of terrorists Raymond H. Hamden In today's world terrorism is yet to be given a definition that is globally acceptable. People agree that terrorism is a problem, they are able to recognize a terrorist act, and they are even quick to label terrorists, but when asked to explain what is means they are unable to agree.
A terrorist is an individual who carries out or threatens to carry out acts of terror, for hire or not for hire. The act of harming or killing others, who are direct enemies or innocent victims, may be for monetary gain, gain of group principle, gain of personal principle, or any combination.
One method of identifying terrorism is by looking closely at the various types of terrorist acts and profiling those who commit them. A terrorist may find his or her cause within the political or religious arena; s/he may have a personal vendetta against a government or political body, retribution, or may be professionally diagnosed with a mental disorder. |
