The Forum Peace Psychology was founded in 1982 in connection with the discussion concerning the armament of the NATO with Pershing 2 and cruise missiles. In December 1986, it became a registered association and has since then become recognized as a non-profit organization. The FPP is a member of the International Network of Psychologists for Social Responsibility that was founded at the European Congress of Psychology in 2007 and which includes contacts to the American organization Psychologists for Social Responsibility, the Finnish Psychologists for Social Responsibility, and the Peace Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association.
