Jianxin Zhang Profile
Dr Zhang graduated from the Department of Psychology, Peking University, in 1982 and then got his MPhil and PhD from the Department of Psychology, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been working in the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences for nearly 40 years, with major research interests and activities in the fields of personality psychology, health psychology, and social psychology.
Dr Zhang was elected as an Executive Member of the Chinese Psychological Society (CPS) in 2011, and worked as the Director of International Exchange Committee of CPS until 2017. He was elected as a Vice President of CPS in 2013. CPS is the largest association of psychologists in China, under the leadership of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology. He also serves as a major leader in another two Chinese associations related to psychology: the Chinese Association of Mental Health (CAMH) and the Chinese Association of Social Psychology (CASP). Currently, he has been elected President of CASP for the next two years.
In 2009, Dr Zhang was elected as President Elect of AASP (Asian Association of Social Psychology), and is now serving as AASP Past President until 2015. During the IUPsyS Assembly held during the 30th International Congress of Psychology in Cape Town, South Africa in 2012, he was elected as an EC Member of the Union.
Dr Zhang was also a national representative and served for two terms from 2009 until 2017, for the position of ICSU-RCAP (Regional committee of Asian Pacific), which has collaborated with IUPsyS to support an international workshop on provision of psychological assistance after natural disasters, and he has been involved in the organisation of and lectures in the series of workshops.
