Aims & Scope

The International Journal of Psychology (IJP) advances psychological research of interest and relevance for the human condition around the world and serves as the outlet for internationally relevant basic and applied research in scientific psychology.

Contributions are encouraged from all fields of psychology, especially those that address new developments and pursue innovative approaches. Particularly welcome are articles that either (a) incorporate perspectives from different areas within psychology or from disciplines of relevance for psychology, (b) study the role of physical, social and cultural contexts in psychological processes and outcomes, or (c) integrate psychological thinking from different regions in the world.

IJP publishes research in Brief articles (short papers reporting on preliminary study results, research in the early stages of development, or updates on previously reported results), Empirical Articles, Systematic Reviews, Metanalyses, and Special Sections and Issues with a particular thematic focus. Relevance for an international readership is our prominent goal.

IJP does not publish technical articles, or clinical case studies.

For information on specific requirements, please see the Author Guidelines.

IJP is the official journal of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS), which works to promote “the development, representation and advancement of psychology as a basic and applied science nationally, regionally, and internationally” (Article 5, IUPsyS Statutes). IUPsyS represents psychology in its full breadth as a science and as a profession.

Peer Review Integrity

All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous evaluation of content and merit by independent expert reviewers.

The International Platform for Psychologists

The International Platform for Psychologists is a sub-section of the International Journal of Psychology. It provides an opportunity to exchange news and opinions on psychology as an academic and applied profession. This section contains information about the global activities of IUPsyS, and about major international meetings of relevance.
