“Stripped of Illusions? Exploring System Justification Processes in Capitalist and Post-Communist Societies”
17 December 2013 – In their review paper, “Stripped of Illusions? Exploring System Justification Processes in Capitalist and Post-Communist Societies,” Aleksandra Cichocka and John T. Jost examine the psychological mechanisms through which individuals rationalise and legitimise existing social systems. Drawing on system justification theory, the authors explore how, when, and why people support prevailing social, economic, and political arrangements — even when such support may conflict with their personal or group interests.
This paper appears in Volume 49, Issue 1 (2014) of the International Journal of Psychology.
