Webinar: Introducing the EQUIP Foundational Helping Skills Training Manual

The International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) is collaborating with the World Health Organization (WHO) on the roll-out of the Ensuring Quality in Psychosocial and Mental Health Care (EQUIP) initiative with our National and Regional Members.

As part of this ongoing engagement, we are pleased to draw your attention to an upcoming webinar introducing the newly released WHO/UNICEF EQUIP Foundational Helping Skills Training Manual. This manual provides trainers and supervisors with structured methods to teach and assess foundational helping skills, ensuring quality and safety in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) delivery worldwide.

We encourage all members to join this webinar as useful context for our forthcoming collaboration with WHO on EQUIP.

Please find the official EQUIP announcement and registration details below.

We are pleased to follow up on our recent announcement of the release of the WHO/UNICEF Foundational Helping Skills Training Manual with details of an upcoming informational webinar hosted by the Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN).

This new WHO/UNICEF resource, published under the Ensuring Quality in Psychosocial and Mental Health Care (EQUIP) initiative, is designed for trainers and supervisors. It explains how to teach and assess foundational helping skills using the EQUIP competency-based approach, providing everything you need to ensure helpers can act effectively and safely.

Our upcoming webinar will introduce the FHS Manual, review the research that informed its development, and outline various implementation options. Join us to discover how the FHS Manual and the EQUIP competency-based approach can help your team develop essential foundational helping skills.

Anyone whose role involves supporting others can benefit from enhancing foundational helping skills, which include effective communication, empathic engagement, collaboration, fostering hope and other behaviours fundamental to any helping role.
