A range of organizations are affiliated or have special liaison status with IUPsyS.
The IUPsyS cooperates with affiliated organizations in various ways, such as planning congresses and conferences and in special projects. To become an affiliate, an organization must meet several criteria, including the following:
- it must be regional or global in its coverage
- its members must be individuals rather than institutions or organizations
- its purposes must be essentially psychological in nature
- there must be a strong presence of psychologists among its members.
Affiliation does not confer membership rights in IUPsyS but aids in communication among organizations with mutual interests in the development and applications of psychology.
