The Standing Committee on Publications guides and oversees the Union’s publications programme and supports IUPsyS in contributing to psychological knowledge and facilitating the international exchange of scientific information. These responsibilities reflect the Union’s statutory objectives to contribute to psychological knowledge through publishing and to foster the exchange of publications and communications across countries.
The Committee has responsibility for developing publication and information-dissemination strategies; supporting the future and success of the International Journal of Psychology (IJP); developing publications where appropriate; overseeing the Union’s broader publication portfolio, including journals, proceedings and books; and reviewing IUPsyS publications.

Recent Activities and Achievements: 2024–2026
During the 2024–2026 biennium, the Committee focused particularly on the transition in IJP editorial leadership, its relationship with Wiley, and the journal’s longer-term development and sustainability.
Key activities included:

Regular liaison between the Chair, Co-Chair, previous and incoming IJP editorial teams to support the transition to the new editorial arrangements.

Ongoing meetings with Wiley and the IJP Co-Editors-in-Chief concerning the journal’s peer-review platform, marketing and support to the editorial team.

Development of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the International Journal of Psychology, including establishment of a special anniversary committee and development of proposed commemorative activities and outputs.

Completion in April 2026 of a review of the new Co-Editor-in-Chief model, including development of an evaluation framework and submission of the resulting report to the Secretary-General.

Continued monitoring of the journal’s performance. The Committee noted a recent increase in the IJP’s Impact Factor while identifying continuing priorities around international authorship, marketing, journal visibility and identity, and sustainable recruitment of reviewers and editorial board members,
The Committee will continue to support the development, international reach, visibility and sustainability of the International Journal of Psychology, alongside the wider development of the Union’s publication portfolio.
